Steve Lewandowski

Steve has
more than 30 years of professional experience as a
guitarist, arranger, composer and conductor. He received a BA in
Music Theory from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and a MA
from Marquette University. He has appeared as a solo act and
with a variety of popular and jazz bands on radio, television
and recordings. He has appeared with Chuck Hedges, the
Fifth Dimension, Yehuda Yannay's 20th Century Ensemble and OPUS.
He has recently completed a new CD with
Kaye Berigan called
From the Curve,

Steve
has a rich history of club performances, shows, concerts and
clinics. As a member of OPUS, he performed in the
Vibrations Unlimited Series concerts with the Milwaukee
Symphony, numerous Summerfest and Lakefront Festival of the Arts
programs, as well as television appearances on WISN and WMVT.
His original composition from the EP "First Light" received
airplay on jazz radio stations nationally. OPUS was
nominated by the Southern Wisconsin Music Board as 1981's best
Jazz/Jazz Rock group in Wisconsin and was the feature at the
Wisconsin Jazz Festival Foundation's inaugural concert. |
He also has been active as an educator in the Milwaukee
Public Schools, directing the Milwaukee High School of the Arts
Jazz Guitar Ensemble which earned second place in the Berklee
College of Music Small Combo competition in Boston and first in
the Wisconsin State Music Association's State Contest in 2000.
He received a TAP Arts grant for "Integrating Technology with
the Arts" in 1992-93. He currently is teaching mathematics and
digital music at New School for Community Service.
