Originally from McHenry,
Illinois he is currently
Director of Bands at Wauwatosa West High School
in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Before moving over to
Wauwatosa he taught in Waukesha and Greenfield
Wisconsin. He also spent thirteen years teaching
at Marion High School in Southern Illinois where his
ensembles earned consistent recognition as being among
the finest musical groups in the State of Illinois.
Guy earned his Bachelor of Music Education
and Master of Music in Trumpet Performance at
Southern Illinois
University in Carbondale. There
he studied with Dr. Robert Allison. He is past
President of the Illinois Music Educators Association
District VI and served on the IMEA State Board of
Directors for three years. He also served as
District VI Jazz Chairman for five years and has been
involved in a variety of committees dealing with music
education issues and activities.
He is in demand as a frequent adjudicator and clinician
of marching band, concert band and jazz band events. He
has appeared as featured soloist at high school and
college jazz festivals and is former principal trumpet
with the highly regarded Knightwind Ensemble in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has also performed as
principal trumpet under the baton of conducting legends
such as Dr. William Revelli, W. Francis McBeth and John
Paynter.
Guy has been active
travelling both as director and performer. As a
freelance musician in the Milwaukee area he performed on
Eric Benet’s Grammy nominated recording of “Lost in
Time.” He also recorded a collection of wedding songs
for solo trumpet for Hal Leonard corporation and has
worked on a number of other recording sessions for
various projects. Musical performance has
taken him to numerous venues throughout the United
States, Europe, the Bahamas and China where he played
and conducted for thousands of eager listeners in
standing-room-only concert halls and auditoriums. Most
recently, he toured the coast of Australia performing
and conducting at several locations in Sidney and
Cairns. His performance credits include appearances
with notables such as Ron Carter, The Chicago Rat Pack,
Mark Colby, Dick Contino, Vinnie Falcone, The Four Aces,
Don Glasser, Donald O’Connor, Debbie Reynolds, Mickey
Rooney, Ray Sullinger, Roseanne Vitro, Mindy Abair and
Brent Wallarab.
